What Are Healthy Finger Nails

For the longest time nails have just been something at the ends of our fingers, they weren't supposed to be pretty; they weren't supposed to serve a purpose, but all that has changed. Finger nails are more than just something at the ends of the fingers, they are supposed to be pretty, they are supposed to serve a purpose, they are supposed to be healthy and on all 10 fingers.

What do your finger nails do? What do they look like? What is the purpose of your finger nails?
Do you know what healthy finger nails look like?

Healthy finger nails are light pink in color and have many thin layers of the nail plate. The nail layer is the top smooth surface of your nail. Healthy finger nails are also slightly rounded, not pointed and not overly curved. The reason you want to have slightly rounded nails is so they don't get caught on things and to prevent easy breakage. What most people don't know is that a slightly curved corner is about 7 times as strong as a square corner. So the next time you are working on your finger nails make sure you do not square the corners because this will cause them to break much easier and it will also push into your skin causing your fingers to hurt.

Healthy finger nails always need to have the right amount of nutrition just like your body and skin does. What most people don't understand is that nails are attached to your body and have cells too so you need to feed them the right vitamins and minerals in order to keep them strong a healthy. Something that I have always been accustomed to is applying Vitamin E on my cuticles and moisturizer to my nails. The reason I apply moisturizer and other nail care kit to my nails is to make sure they have enough minerals on them to keep the strong.

I bet you didn't know that what you eat and what you drink can dramatically affect the way your nails look. Did you know that this could happen? This is the exact reason why I like to eat a green leafy salad at least once per day and I also drink lots of water. Drinking water is very important because you want to keep your nails and the skin around them moist in order for them to hold up much better. Think about your nails in the same way that you think about your hair. Your hair will become brittle and lose its color if you don't drink enough water, and this is the exact same thing that will happen to your nails.

If you want to have the healthiest nails then you really need to understand what I am telling you here. Nails can be easily changed and they can easily fall off if you are not careful. Make sure you take good care of your nails both internally by eating and drinking the right stuff and externally by washing and maintaining them properly. Doing this you will ensure that your nails are the healthiest they can be.
